‘Cauliflower ear’ – Auricular seroma/haematoma

This common and often painful condition usually arises from blunt trauma to the outer ear and can result in substantial swelling and disfiguration of the ear.  Although appropriate protective headwear can help prevent these injuries, once sustained it is vital to aspirate (remove) the fluid that accumulates as soon as possible to avoid permanent deformity of the ear pinna.

Kingsley Medical offers seroma aspiration under local anaesthetic. This procedure involves the injection of a small amount of local anaesthetic into the ear followed by the aspiration of fluid from the outer ear.

The procedure takes around 10 minutes.  The cost of this procedure is $65 in addition to our standard consultation fee.  For a full list of our fees click here.
