Cortisone/steroid injections
Corticosteroid injections can be an invaluable tool in the arsenal of a musculoskeletal physician. It is imperative that appropriate rest, rehabilitation and graduated return to normal daily and recreational activities follow ANY steroid injection.
Corticosteroid injections can be of benefit in the treatment of many musculoskeletal conditions including:
- Arthritis
- Tendonitis (tendonoses)
- Fasciitis and heel spurs
- Nerve entrapment
- Bursitis
- Headaches and migraines
For painful injections of the hand or foot Kingsley Medical offers ‘wrist blocks’ and ‘ankle blocks’ prior to having your steroid injection.
Steroid injections for tensile and weight-bearing tendons may lead to weakening of the tendon and even rupture. It is vital that sufficient rest and appropriate, graduated return to activity is followed.
Injections requiring ultrasound guidance may incur an additional fee.
